Random things that remind me how full life really is when I can let go of what I expect it to be. And of course, things that make me laugh so that I can get through all those times that I forget!
I like looking at things that can make me shriek, grin uncontrollably, sob, gasp, and giggle.
Day 4 - Body Revolution
Woo hoo, day 4! That’s twice as long as I made it last week heh heh.
It was another round of workout 1. It crazy amazes me how much more difficult tricep extensions are when holding a separate dumbell in each hand and not letting them touch. I go to exhaustion and then let the weights slam together in my hands for the rest. It’s wild how much lighter they feel when you put them together and you’re not working the arms individually!
Tomorrow is another round with workout 2, and I’m pretty stoked about the back workout. Soreness hasn’t been too bad this week, it’s there but it’s pretty much even all over and not unbearable.
Day 3 of Jillian’s Body Revolution
I didn’t put on too much while cruising, but the week away from exercising just has me feeling gross and dysmorphic and too many other feelings that I don’t like to face. It’s embarrassing to feel these things after losing and maintaining a fifty pound weight loss, but it’s a lie to ignore the feelings.
So I decided to hop into a program. I feel like one of the problems I faced before the break from exercise was inconsistency. I liked not getting bored by doing the same workouts over and over, but I’m curious to see how motivated I’ll stay through it, if I’ll finish it, if I’ll be okay with the days I skip, and of course if I’ll feel better in my clothes.
The workouts are a lot of fun so far. The only thing that sucks is that the copy I have doesn’t have the sound lined up perfectly, so by the end of a DVD when she’s counting down the reps, “4! 3! 2! ONE!” I get all excited, and then notice that the people on the video are still going… dammit! Haha it ends up giving me an extra rep or two on all the exercises though, so yay.

I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.

Patriarchy is not men. Patriarchy is a system in which both women and men participate. It privileges, inter alia, the interests of boys and men over the bodily integrity, autonomy, and dignity of girls and women. It is subtle, insidious, and never more dangerous than when women passionately deny that they themselves are engaging in it. This abnormal obsession with women’s faces and bodies has become so normal that we (I include myself at times—I absolutely fall for it still) have internalized patriarchy almost seamlessly. We are unable at times to identify ourselves as our own denigrating abusers, or as abusing other girls and women.
For the second season of Game of Thrones, HBO’s breakout fantasy epic, Kit Harington spent nearly a month filming on a glacier in Iceland. “I think the coldest day was minus 35 with windchill,” he says, “and there were 500-foot drops next to us all the time.” But for our fashion spring fashion special — which features the 25-year-old actor — we chose a location out of harm’s way: a Manhattan studio that safeguarded Harington, photographer Jake Chessum, and today’s finest casual wear.
